TOBI Amusan has continued her impressive streak this season by setting yet another record in the women’s 100m hurdles event.

The sprint hurdler, who recently set a new African record of 12.41 seconds in the distance, set a new Championship mark today in Benin City when she won the 100m hurdles final at the Nigerian Trials for the 2022 World Athletics Championships and the Commonwealth Games.

Amusan won in 12.53s to smash the old Championship Record of 12.63s and successfully defend her title.

The 25-year-old was so far ahead of her rivals that she beat the next person by almost a full second, a rare feat in the final of an elite race.

Grace Ayemoba came second in 13.60s, while Stella Ayanleke was third in 13.85s.

In the men’s hurdles final at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, reigning National Sports Festival champion Oyeniyi Abejoye finished in 13.78s to emerge as the winner.

In the women’s triple jump, Ruth Usoro was imperious, easing to victory with a personal season’s best leap of 14.11m.

Onaara Obamuwagun finished a distant second with 13.15m, narrowly beating Esther Isa who came third with 13.14m.

Meanwhile, defending champion Enoch Adegoke is out of the men’s 100m after getting injured in the heats yesterday.
