UMAR Sadiq has been lined up by Ajax as the potential replacement for Sebastien Haller, while Villarreal are also interested in the striker.
The Super Eagles star’s current club Almeria are however insisting on a transfer fee of €25m for a deal to be struck.
Cote d’Ivoire striker Haller has been sold to Borussia Dortmund for £33 million and Ajax have identified Sadiq as the ideal player to take his place, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
Meanwhile, Spanish outfit Relevo reported today that Villarreal are interested in signing Sadiq with Almeria demanding a minimum of €25m for the player.
Should the transfer go through, his former club Partizan will receive a 20 percent sell-on clause.
Super Eagles striker Sadiq helped Almeria to gain promotion to the Spanish top flight last season.
He scored 20 goals in 38 appearances to steer Almeria to La Liga, but he has not committed his future to the modest Spanish side and could be lured to Ajax by the prospects of playing UEFA Champions League football.
The 25-year-old Nigeria international told Goal recently that he did not know what the future would bring despite being happy at Almeria.
“For now, I am playing at Almeria and I have a contract with them,” Sadiq said.
“Snd also, I’m enjoying my football in Spain. But I don’t know what the future brings.”
Haller, 28, who had struggled at West Ham, was Ajax’s top scorer last season, scoring 21 goals in 31 Eredivisie appearances and 11 in eight UEFA Champions League games as the Dutch giants won the domestic championship.
