PETR Cech will no longer be a part of the Chelsea hierarchy under the new ownership, the club announced today.

The former goalkeeper has been an official of the club for three years, returning to Stamford Bridge after he ended his playing career with a spell at Arsenal.

“Chelsea Football Club today announces that Petr Cech, Technical and Performance Advisor, will leave his role effective 30 June,” the club said in an official statement on their website.

“Since his appointment three years ago, Cech has provided advice and guidance on all football and performance matters throughout the Club, while strengthening the links between our men’s and Academy teams.”

Cech, who made 333 appearances for Chelsea between 2004 and 2015, said it was time for him to leave the club.

“It has been a huge privilege to perform this role at Chelsea for the past three years,” 40-year-old former Czech international said.

“With the Club under new ownership, I feel now is the right time for me to step aside. I am pleased that the Club is now in an excellent position with the new owners, and I am confident of its future success both on and off the pitch.”

New Chelsea chairman and co-owner Todd Boehly said: “Petr is an important member of the Chelsea family. We understand his decision to step away and thank him for his contributions as an advisor and his commitment to the club and to our community. We wish him the best.”

Cech won the Premier League four times and the UEFA Champions League as Chelsea goalkeeper and the club also won the continental trophy in 2021 with him as an advisor.

His departure follows those of former chairman Bruce Buck and influential director Marina Granovskaia since the Boehly-led takeover from Roman Abramovich in May.
