Manchester United and Bayern Munich are ready to make bids for Victor Osimhen if the clubs cannot retain Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski respectively.
Reports in Italy today claimed the Super Eagles striker is high on the list of preferred replacements for the veteran forwards if they were to leave the two big clubs.
Ronaldo, 37, has not joined United in training since they resumed on Monday amid transfer speculations, while 33-year-old Lewandowski is keen to join Barcelona.
Both superstars have one year left in each of their contracts.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed this morning that both clubs could make late moves for 23-year-old Osimhen if they eventually let Ronaldo and Lewandowski leave.
The report added that Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti is he can keep Osimhen for next season but Chelsea forward Armando Broja would be a potential replacement for the Nigeria international.
Osimhen has over the last two seasons grown to become one of the best young strikers in Europe with his goals and all-round play.
Despite missing over two months last season due to facial fractures and surgery, he still emerged as Napoli’s top scorer.
He produced 18 goals and six assists in 32 appearances in all competitions as Napoli finished third in Serie A and qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
Osimhen also scored four goals in a 10-0 victory over Sao Tome and Principe in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Agadir in June, taking his international tally to 15 goals and eight assists in 23 appearances.
Both United and Bayern Munich would need an elite striker to replace their big-name forwards, and Osimhen is considered as one.
