Aston Villa have agreed to sell Carney Chukwuemeka to Chelsea, both clubs have announced.
The Premier League clubs confirmed the agreement for the English teenager with Nigerian heritage today.
“Aston Villa and Chelsea can confirm that the clubs have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Carney Chukwuemeka,” the two clubs said in a joint statement shared across their media channels today.
“The 18-year-old has been given permission to travel to London to discuss both personal terms and undergo a medical.”
Chukwuemeka was born in Austria in October 2003 to Nigerian parents, and has represented England at youth international level, recently captaining the England U-19s.
The midfielder joined Aston Villa’s youth set-up in 2016 and has featured for their U-18s and U-23s.
Chukwuemeka was more involved in the senior squad last season after making two Premier League appearances in the 2020/2021 campaign.
Last season, he made 14 senior appearances, 12 in the Premier League and two in the EFL Cup, contributing an assist in the 2-0 win over Norwich City in December.
He faced Chelsea at Villa Park on Boxing Day last year, coming on as a substitute as Villa lost 3-1.
Chukwuemeka’s Villa contract expired on June 30 and Chelsea will pay a compensation fee.
