Liverpool bounced back today to defeat Bournemouth 9-0 and equal the biggest-ever win in Premier League history.

On the same afternoon, Chelsea played with 10 men for more than one hour but still defeated Leicester City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, while Erling Halaand scored his first Manchester City hat-trick as they defeated Crystal Palace 4-2.

Last season’s runners-up Liverpool were bristling from their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday and they took out their frustrations on the promoted Bournemouth at Anfield.

The Reds were in front after just three minutes through Luis Diaz, with Harvey Elliot, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Roberto Firmino (two) and Fabio Carvalho adding the other goals.

Liverpool were 5-0 up at half-time for the first time in their Premier League history, while curiously Mohamed Salah did not score any of the goals.

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea had Conor Gallagher sent off in the 28th minute for two bookings but Raheem scored his first two goals for them to earn a 2-1 win over a poor Leicester City side, with Harvey Barnes netting for the visitors.

Sterling became the third player in Premier League history to score for each of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea after Nicolas Anelka and Daniel Sturridge.

Nigeria internationals Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho both started on the bench for Leicester City, the former coming on in the last minute of regulation time and the latter playing for 35 minutes.

At the Etihad Stadium, Halaand scored thrice in the second half as champions Manchester City came from two goals down to beat Crystal Palace 4-2 and record their third win of the campaign.

Halaand, 22, has now scored 13 top flight hat-tricks after playing in his native Norway, Germany and now England.

In another afternoon kick-off in the Premier League today, Alex Iwobi and his Everton teammates were denied their first win of the season as Brentford scored an 84th minute equaliser through Vitaly Janelt.

Chelsea target Anthony Gordon gave the visitors the lead in the 24th minute before the hosts fought back to pull level late on.

Nigeria international Iwobi played all 90 minutes and posted another impressive performance.
