Chelsea began their UEFA Champions League campaign tonight with a shock 1-0 defeat at Dinamo Zagreb.
The Croatian champions scored in the first half and held on for only their sixth win in 44 Champions League clashes.
The dangerous Mislav Orsic netted the winner in the 13th minute, breaking through from the halfway line, holding off Wesley Fofana and beautifully dinking a finish past the advancing Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Dinamo came agonisingly close to a second but Stefan Ristovski’s thunderous, long-range effort was superbly tipped onto the bar by Arrizabalaga.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was handed his Chelsea debut by Thomas Tuchel and the ex-Arsenal captain had a goal ruled out for offside.
Chelsea have now lost three consecutive away games for the first time under Thomas Tuchel, following earlier defeats to Southampton and Leeds United.
Dinamo Zagreb on their part have now beaten three London clubs in European competition in recent seasons, having also recorded victories over Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.
In the other evening kick-off, Borussia Dortmund comfortably dealt with FC Copenhagen, beating the Danes 3-0.
Marcus Reus and Raphael Guerreiro struck in the first half, with Jude Bellingham netting the third goal seven minutes from time.
