Netflix reveals premiere date for fifth season of ‘The Crown’

TOP streaming platform, Netflix has revealed the premiere date for the fifth season of the drama series based on the British royals, The Crown. The date, November 9 was disclosed during its online Tudum fan event on Saturday, September 24, 2022.

The series is set to return with an entirely new cast featuring Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as her husband, Prince Philip, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, Lesley Manville as the Queen’s sister Princess Margaret, and Jonny Lee Miller as Prime Minister John Major. 

Other cast members include Salim Daw as billionaire department store owner Mohamed Al-Fayed, Amir El-Masry as a younger Al-Fayed. Khalid Abdalla will play Al-Fayed’s son Dodi, who tragically died in the same 1997 Parisian car crash that killed Princess Diana. Humayun Saeed will play Dr. Hasnat Khan, a British-Pakistani heart surgeon with whom Diana had a secret two-year-long relationship with. Also, Dominic West’s son Senan is set to play William, and Teddy Hawley and Will Powell will both portray Harry at different ages.

Queen Elizabeth II’s death on September 8, 2022, has sparked a renewed interest in the series, with the show’s U.K. viewership increasing more than 800% following the Queen’s death, according to data analytics firm Whip Media.
