Moses Simon is confident the Super Eagles have learnt from the defeat to Algeria and will make amends in subsequent games.
The Algerians secured their third straight victory over the Super Eagles on Tuesday night in Oran, coming from behind to win 2-1 in a friendly fixture.
Terem Moffi drew first blood for Nigeria but Riyad Mahrez equalised before Youcef Atal’s long-range strike beat Francis Uzoho, whose reaction time was slow.
“The game didn’t go the way we planned it. It’s part of the job. We learn every day,” Moses, who was captain for the night in the absence of Ahmed Musa and William Troost-Ekong, said.
The Nantes forward however felt the Super Eagles suffered some injustice when the referee disallowed Ademola Lookman’s goal for a non-existent offside.
Still he urges the team to look ahead to better performances in future.
“I believe we picked a lot from it. We all know the referee did not do justice but the coach said we should forget it,” he noted.
“We just need to encourage and motivate ourselves. We play for pride, we play for family, we play for Nigerian fans, we play for ourselves.
“I believe we did our best although it didn’t go as planned, we just keep working hard.”
The Super Eagles, having failed to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup billed for November and December, have only one more game left this year.
The three-time African champions will face Portugal in November in a friendly to prepare the 2016 European champions for the World Cup.
