Wilfred Ndidi has been ruled out of Leicester City’s Premier League fixture against Bournemouth on Saturday and he could be missing in action for ‘a few weeks’.
The Super Eagles midfielder has been troubled by injuries in recent months and he withdrew from Nigeria’s friendly against Algeria in late September with a hamstring strain.
Although he started Leicester City’s 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Monday night, the former Genk star was taken off at half-time due to fitness problems.
“The team is looking very good,” Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers told his pre-match press conference today.
“We’re delighted with Monday night and we’re looking to our next game. In terms of the squad, Wilfred Ndidi will probably be out for a little bit.
“He came back from international duty with a hamstring strain. He recovered well but he felt it at half-time in the game and he was a little sore, so he might miss a few weeks.
“Papy Mendy has an issue with his knee so may struggle for the weekend but everyone else should be fine.”
Ndidi, 25, has missed the last seven Super Eagles matches, including the Qatar 2022 World Cup playoffs against Ghana in March, due to knee and hamstring issues.
He was also unavailable for Leicester City’s final 11 Premier League fixtures of last season due to the serious knee injury.
