The Super Eagles will play Costa Rica in a friendly in the country’s capital San Jose on November 9, the Nigeria Football Federation has announced.
The NFF said today that the Super Eagles have been invited to the Central American country to face their national team as part of the activities to send the squad off to the World Cup.
The 2022 World Cup is scheduled for November 20 to December 18 in Qatar.
The friendly match is billed for the National Stadium in San Jose, with kick-off set for 8pm local time (3am November 10 in Nigeria).
Costa Rica hosted this year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup where Nigeria’s Falconets reached the quarter-finals after defeating France, Korea Republic and Canada in the group phase.
Unlike the Super Eagles who fell at the final hurdle in their quest to qualify for the World Cup, Costa Rica will be in Qatar, where they will play in Group E along with Japan and former champions Spain and Germany.
Costa Rica kick off their World Cup campaign against 2010 champions Spain on November 23 in Doha before battling Japan four days later.
They round off the group phase against four-time champions Germany on December 1 in Al Khor.
It was also announced days ago that the Super Eagles will face World Cup-bound Portugal in a friendly in Lisbon on November 17.
