Victor Osimhen is on the path to full recovery and will likely be in Napoli’s squad for Sunday’s Serie A visit to Cremonese.
The Super Eagles striker has been out for almost one month with a muscle injury, which forced him to miss Nigeria’s friendly against Algeria last week and several Napoli games.
But Napoli revealed on their official website today that the 23-year-old has been training with his teammates after a period of personalised sessions.
Also, according Sky Sports in Italy, Osimhen could start from the bench in Sunday’s fixture against the Serie A newcomers, where he could come up against fellow Nigerian strikers Cyriel Dessers and David Okereke.
Although Osimhen is a key member of Luciano Spalletti’s squad, Napoli have fared excellently in the Nigeria international’s absence.
Napoli have won all of their five games Osimhen has missed – three in Serie A and two in the UEFA Champions League.
They have scored 12 goals, including six in a big Champions League win against Ajax in Amsterdam, with Giacomo Raspadori, Giovanni Simeone and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia all contributing.
Osimhen, who has scored two goals in six appearances this season, is expected to be gradually eased back into the squad as Napoli seek to maintain their good form.
