ACCORDING to the police command in Kano, one of the escapees from the Kuje Correctional Center, Abubakar Muhammad Sadiq, was apprehended.
Based on a statement from the police public relations officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Abubakar Mohammed Sadiq, 25, of Badarawa Quarters, Kaduna North LGA, was detained by a squad from “Operation Restore Peace” attached to the command’s Criminal Investigation Department.
According to him, the suspect was apprehended in Kano State’s Ungogo Local Government Area at Rangaza Quarters on the basis of reliable information and ongoing intelligence gathering.
He revealed that the police commissioner has ordered that the alleged escapee be turned over to the Kano State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
“The Commissioner of police appreciates the good people of Kano State for their continuous support, encouragement and cooperation while urging residents to continue to pray for the state, and the nation and report incidents to the nearest police station and not take laws into their hands,” he said.
In order to maintain the peace of establishing a calm environment in Kano State, he added, searches of criminal hideouts and “black spots” will continue to take place throughout the state.
