AHEAD of the general elections of 2023, sixteen ward executives of the All Progressive Congress in Sokoto State defected to the Peoples Democratic Party.

The state PDP chairman, Alhaji Bello Goronyo, promised the new members same treatment with all other party members while welcoming them to his home in Sokoto.

“In PDP, we treat all our members the same, we always stand on our name for the people, as such I assure you that we will work together for the best future of our state and the country at large.

“Your decision to join us in this journey is of great concern to us as leaders and I am optimistic that with you on board we will succeed in our struggle,” he said.

According to a statement signed by Hassan Sahabi Sayinnawal and made available to journalists, the chairman requested that they continue to inform the public about the legacy projects and activities of the state’s previous administration, which was led by Governor Aminu Tambuwal.

Alhaji Garba Dan-Sanda stated in his remarks on behalf of the new members that they made the right choice to join the PDP based on the track record of the party-led government of the state.

Dan-Sanda gave them all his word that they would all collaborate closely with the party’s leadership in the ward, local government, and state so as ensure the PDP’s victory in the general elections of 2023.

He was grateful to the PDP Chairman for welcoming them and giving them the confidence to join the party’s battle before the 2023 election season.

Some of the defectors include Aliyu Liman, Adamu Salihu, Alinbo Dan-Tudu, Abdullahi Belbela, Abdu Langebo, Hussain Langebo and Umaru Dadi.

Others include Abubakar Isa, Agada Lajinge, Usman Kalla, Isa Suleiman, Yawale Isa, Jadi Abdullahi and Aminu Makuwana, all from Lajinge and Makuwana wards of Sabon Birni LGA.
