AFTER Peter Obi supporters marched on several streets in Lagos last week, the former chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, scheduled a sizable gathering in support of Tinubu.
Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, and tens of thousands of his supporters marched across the busy Ikorodu road and other areas of Nigeria’s economic hub today.
The Teslim Balogun Stadium hosted the massive crowd to kick off the march, which will end in Oshodi.
The crowd took up a significant portion of the road, making it difficult for many vehicles to move.
Shouts of “Awa Lokan”, “Se Jagaban”, “Tinubu for President” rend the air as the crowd marched through the roads.
Security personnel were everywhere as major traffic gridlock were observed on Funsho Williams Avenue, Yaba-Ikorodu Road, and in other Surulere neighboring communities.
Two Fuji musicians Sulaimon Adio and Sulaimon Adekunle Alao who are known by the stage names Atawewe and Malaika joined the rally to support Tinubu
A few days to the rally, MC Oluomo had issued a statement, saying, “This is going to be a mega rally, we are going to shut Lagos down for Asiwaju Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu. The reason why we postponed the rally initially, was because of some logistics and situations that were supposed to be put into proper perspectives which we have sorted out.
“The APC chieftains and stakeholders have blessed the rally and we are ready to roar. Maximum security guaranteed. We want to show our support, strength, and capacity for APC candidates because they are the best for the job at hand.
“I hereby, urge all ‘BATists’ (supporters of Tinubu) and Sanwo-Olu to come out in large numbers to tell the world that Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu are the best candidates for the presidency and governorship slots for the state come 2023 general polls.”
