THE governor of Osun State, has sworn in 69 Local Government Area and council chairmen, in accordance with the results reported by the state’s Independent Electoral Commission of the elections held last Saturday.

Since the All Progressives Congress was the only party to participate, all of its candidates ran unopposed in the LG election.

Oyetola performed the swearing-in ceremony of the elected officials, which included 30 LGA chairmen and 39 council chairmen in Osogbo today. He charged them to carry out their campaign promises.

He said, “The swearing in today of the elected chairmen and vice chairmen signalled the end of the service of those appointed into caretaker committees at the local government levels across the State. Government is appreciative of their services to the state.

“The successful and peaceful resolutions of the issues after robust debates and legislation are tributes to the resilience of our people and their readiness to embrace due process and the rule of law, no matter the mileage.

“With the passage of the relevant law and today’s inauguration, Osun is fully back to the Presidential System recognised by the Constitution of the nation and its benefits at the Council level.”
