Victor Osimhen has earned high praise from one of the finest strikers in African football history, Didier Drogba.
The Super Eagles centre forward has been in fine form lately for Napoli, and Drogba has joined a long list of football people hailing the 24-year-old.
Cote d’Ivoire and Chelsea legend Drogba took to social media today to commend Osimhen’s selflessness.
Responding to a short video on Twitter of a UEFA Champions League clash between Napoli and Ajax, in which Osimhen hands the ball to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to take a penalty instead of taking it himself, Drogba praised the Nigeria international.
“That’s a complete striker: unselfishness…the real meaning of “win as A TEAM!” Drogba wrote.
Osimhen has been in a prolific mood since returning from injury two weeks ago.
He has scored in each of his four matches since then, notching up six goals in all, including his first Napoli hat-trick on Saturday in the 4-0 win over Sassuolo.
The top scorer at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2015 is now joint-top scorer in Serie A with seven goals despite missing four of Napoli’s 12 fixtures through injury.
