THE All Progressives Congress primary election in Kwara State was once more been declared invalid by the Federal High Court in Ilorin. Hon Raheem Olawuyi Ajulo-opin candidacy for the 2023 election in the federal constituency in the state was also nullified.
Oluwasegun Adebayo was declared the winner of the election and thus confirmed as the authentic APC candidate for the party’s election in the Isin/Oke-Ero/Ekiti/Irepodun Federal Constituency of the House of Representatives in 2023 by Justice Mohammed Sani, who delivered the judgment in Ilorin yesterday.
Adebayo in the suit filed before the Court said Ajulo-Opin had sought to get the Kwara South APC senate nomination and he had participated in the primary election that eventually produced Senator Lola Ashiru as winner.
Adebayo responded to the court decision yesterday by calling his triumph “good news” and noted that it was a victory for everyone.
However, in a statement released in Omu-Aran yesterday, Hon Ajulo-Opin mentioned that he had unwavering faith in the nation’s judiciary.
In the same light, a Federal High Court in Kaduna yesterday, ordered a new election for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District to be held in 14 days after declaring the People’s Democratic Party primary election invalid.
Lawal Adamu, also known as “Mr LA” was declared the winner of the primary election and his name was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the party’s Kaduna Central senatorial district candidate for the 2023 election. However, his main challenger, Usman Ibrahim, dragged him before the court.
