Unai Emery is planning to lure Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal to Aston Villa, according to reports.
The Spanish coach became Aston Villa manager last week, joining the English club from Villarreal, and he now wants Nigeria international Chukwueze to follow him.
Although Emery won his first game in charge at Villa with an impressive 3-1 Premier League victory over Manchester United at Villa Park on Sunday, the Spaniard is keen to strengthen his squad in January.
Spanish outlets claim that Emery is considering moving for three Villarreal players, with Chukwueze heading the list that includes Pau Torres and Nicolas Jackson.
TeamTalk added that Chukwueze would cost Villa around €50m if they were to make a serious bid for the Super Eagles forward.
Chukwueze has been in decent form this season, contributing three goals and four assists in 19 appearances in all competitions.
The 23-year-old, a world champion at U-17 level with Nigeria in 2015, joined Villarreal U-19s in 2017 and has remained at the club ever since.
Chukwueze was promoted to the senior squad in November 2018 and has been a permanent feature since that time.
He has made 176 appearances for the club with 27 goals and 24 assists.
