FOUR armed robbery suspects have been detained by the Edo State Police Command in South Ibie, Agbede, Etsako West Local Government Area.
According to a statement released yesterday by the state command spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the suspects were detained on Sunday at their residence in South Ibie, Edo State, behind Wonder City.
He said, “Edo Police Command, on Sunday, November 20, 2022, arrested four suspects over armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm, one cut-to-size locally made pistol, 10 android phones and a motorcycle with Reg.No GDE 222-VC.
“The arrested suspects are Umar Sanusi (28 years), Saviour Sunday (23 years), Edeh Samuel (18 years) and Ede Monday (23 years). They all reside behind Wonder City, South Ibie, Edo State.
“The arrest was made possible following a well-laid ambush by the Divisional Police Officer, Agbede and his men alongside the local Vigilante which resulted in the arrest of the first suspect, one Umar Sanusi as he was riding a motorcycle with another suspect, one Boniface Junior currently on the run.
“Investigation revealed that the motorcycle, with Reg/NO GDE-222-VC, was earlier robbed from the owner, one Abdullahi Nufu at gunpoint behind Wonder City.
“A search warrant executed on the premises of the suspects led to the recovery of the cut-to-size locally made pistol, the android phones and the arrest of the three other suspects,” he added.
Nwabuzor revealed thatMohammed Dankwara, the commissioner of police, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the matter right away so that it can be investigated and prosecuted as soon as possible.
The CP also ordered the concerned investigators and the Command’s surveillance team to make sure that Boniface Junior, the suspect who is running away, be apprehended and charged as soon as possible.
