The COAS represented by Maj. Gen. E. Akerejola, commander of the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport said:
“The recent attacks by non-state actors and other criminal elements have brought a new dimension to transportation challenges in our country. The effects of all these issues and challenges are better imagined.”
In order to ensure a safer environment for the transportation industry and the country as a whole, he said the army would continue to do its duty professionally and work in collaboration with other relevant security agencies.
According to CIOTA President Bashir Jamoh, the country’s economy will grow as more transportation modes are secure.
Jamoh, represented by Prof. Samuel Odewumi noted that the recent attacks on rail facilities, called for proper design of the security architecture of the rail facilities and other modalities.
