BANDITS killed seven people and kidnapped five more in separate attacks on different communities in the local government areas of Goronyo and Sabon Birni in Sokoto State.
According to the reports, the communities included in the attack are Bare, Kagara, and Kojiyo in the Goronyo LGA and Faji village in the Sabon Birni LGA. It was reported that six persons were killed at Bare and one at Kagara.
It was also reported that the thieves broke into stores and stole a variety of items.
The chairman of the local government council for Goronyo, Abdulwahab Goronyo, confirmed the incident and said the bandits also rustled some livestock in the communities.
According to him, the attacks, happened yesterday at around 4 o’clock.
The bandits were said to have kidnapped a man and his two wives at Faji village. The abducted persons were identified as Alhaji Yusuf, and his two wives: Suwaiba Isa, Dagumi.
The Sokoto Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Sanusi Abubakar, acknowledged that he had not been told about the attacks but promised to find out more and get back to our correspondent. But as of the moment this report was sent, he still hadn’t returned.
