THE vice presidential candidate for the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is unconcerned about Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC’s nominee for president, winning the 2023 election.
He made the statement on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, when discussing the prospects for his party in the general election of 2023.
According to Baba-Ahmed, the president had urged Nigerians to cast their votes for the candidate of their choice and stated that a fair election was the only legacy he could leave behind.
He said, “This is heartbreak for APC. Who made Buhari, after almighty Allah? Tinubu. All his failed attempts and Tinubu came and added his three million [votes] and made him president. Who is going to unmake Tinubu after all his political successes? Buhari.
“This is because Buhari has finished his eight years…he doesn’t need anything.
“It is not about how well Nigeria was run or how bad Nigeria was run. They have finished with Nigeria, they have finished with everybody. Tinubu can go…he means nothing to Buhari.”
Baba-Ahmed stated that the APC had broken every promise it made to Nigerians during its campaign, pointing out that Tinubu is at a disadvantage heading into the contest.
He maintained that while the economy tanked, insecurity in Nigeria increased over the past seven years.
Additionally, he said that the APC’s leadership has led to an increase in corruption and human rights violations.
Baba-Ahmed asserted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not a march for the LP in 2023 and that the LP has already seized control of all PDP strongholds.
The LP now controls more than 90% of the North Central, he continued, so the PDP could no longer claim to be in charge of the South East, South-South, and North Central.
Baba-Ahmed said LP had been able to debunk the lies against its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the north, claiming that the party now has a strong presence in the north.
He expressed optimism that the LP will comfortably win the 2023 presidential election, saying, “there is a war going on now; good Nigerians vs bad leaders.”
