THE APC candidate for governor in Delta State, Ovie Omo-Agege, paid a visit yesterday to survivors and families of those that died in a boat accident.
The boat accident which occurred on Tuesday night along the Gbaramatu-Warri River was reported to have killed five APC members in the state.
Party members and supporters were returning from the APC governorship rally conducted earlier in the day in Okerenkoko and Ugborodo towns in the state’s Warri South West Local Government Area when they were involved in the boat accident.
the director of communications and media strategy for the Delta APC Campaign Council, Ima Niboro, said in a statement yesterday, that two of the survivors were recovering at a clinic in Warri and were responding to treatment.
Five other persons have already been released from the hospital, he added.
Niboro reported that at the clinic, Omo-Agege expressed sympathy for the injured and gave the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Austin Okogun, instructions to do everything in his power to make sure they received the best medical care.
According to Niboro, Omo-Agege also paid a visit to the family of Paul Ejoh, a 25-year-old student and APC member who died in the boat accident.
The statement quoted Omo-Agege as saying, “The visit should have been, in different circumstances, to celebrate victory, and not for condolences, but God knows best.
“Difficult as it is, he (the deceased) was our own and he gave everything he had for our cause. I am told he has a wife and two siblings, and more painful, no kids yet.
“We will give the wife and siblings the necessary support going forward. You can count on us. I pray Almighty God to grant the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
