SUPER Eagles strikers Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu continued their hot scoring form into 2023 with goals for their clubs today.

Osimhen struck in Napoli’s 2-0 win at Sampdoria, while Onuachu was on target in Genk’s 3-1 victory over Club Brugge.

The victory over Sampdoria helped Napoli open up a five-point gap at the top of Serie A as they bounced back from last week’s 1-0 defeat at Inter Milan.

Osimhen opened the scoring for Napoli in the 19th minute and became the first player in Serie A this season to reach 10 goals.

He also became the first Nigerian in Serie A history to score at least 10 goals in three consecutive Serie A campaigns.

The Super Eagles star is also the second African player to score 10 or more goals in three different Serie A seasons, after Liberian legend and current President George Weah with AC Milan (1995/1996, 1996/1997 and 1997/98).

In Belgium, Onuachu netted the second goal of Genk’s win over last season’s champions, who were without Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika.

Onuachu started the game and scored in the 67th minute, and he was joined in the Genk attack by new Nigerian signing Yira Sor for the closing two minutes.

The towering Nigeria international has now scored 14 goals in 16 Belgian Pro League appearances this season as Genk maintain a seven-point advantage over Union St Gilloise.
