GUNMEN have killed four people, on Nzomiwu Street in the Eziani village in the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to reports, the shooters entered the neighborhood yesterday and began shooting into the air, killing four victims: three men and a woman who was reportedly pregnant.
Unable to determine the motive for the attack, a local report reveals that the shooters departed the scene as soon as they had finished shooting the victims.
According to the informant, the armed men fired randomly as bullets struck the four people.
Police spokesman for the state DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the attack in a press release stated that the bodies of the victims had been brought to the mortuary.
Ikenga said, “Police/military operations have been intensified in Ihiala and its neighbouring town as operatives responded to a distress call in the early hours of Tuesday on Nzomiwu Street, Eziani, Ihiala, recovered lifeless bodies, three males and one female at the scene.
“Preliminary information revealed that the criminal elements armed with Ak47, started shooting indiscriminately and unprovoked, unfortunately, bullets hit four unarmed civilians. The bodies have been deposited in the morgue.”
