MANCHESTER United have agreed a loan deal with Burnley and Besiktas for Wout Weghorst.
The Netherlands striker is currently on loan at Besiktas from Burnley, and this was the cause of delay in thrashing out a deal, according to reports.
The 30-year-old is now believed to be on his way from Turkey to England to undergo his medical and sign the contract.
According to The Athletic, Manchester United will pay €3 million directly to Besiktas after all the three clubs involved reached full agreement.
It is now a race against time to get Weghorst registered in time for the derby against Manchester City at Old Trafford on Saturday, with the deadline set for tomorrow afternoon.
Weghorst struggled with Burnley in the Premier League last season as they got relegated, scoring just twice in 20 games after joining from Wolfsburg for €17.5m last January.
He has however thrived on loan at Besiktas whom he joined in July with an option to buy for €10m.
The towering striker has contributed eight goals and four assists in 16 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig with Besiktas in fifth place.
He has scored five goals in 19 appearances for The Netherlands, including a brace in the Qatar 2022 World Cup quarter-final against Argentina in December.
Weghorst is the target man Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag needs as replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo whose contract was terminated in November.
