THE bodies of seven members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who were ambushed and killed by bandits have been buried in Kaduna state.

This was said in a statement released yesterday in Abuja by Director of Public Relations for the NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu.

Odumosu stated that on January 9, while doing their regular duties of guarding a mining site in Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna State, the operatives were killed in Birnin Gwari locality.

According to him, the corpses, were delivered to the families and loved ones of the deceased at the NSCDC Kaduna Command after a brief interment ceremony.

The Corps’ Commandant General (CG), Dr. Ahmed Audi, bid the officers and men farewell during the lying-in-state ceremony on Saturday.

The CG, who was represented by Idris Adah, Commandant, Kaduna Command, commended the brave officers’ efforts and referred to them as “Heroes, never to be forgotten.”

The CG guaranteed that the deceased’s heirs and relatives would get their benefits in a timely manner.

He expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for comforting and remembering the Corps during this difficult period.

The CG also stated that the regrettable tragedy will not deter the Corps but rather encourage it to take more vigorous action against the enemy of the people.
