The Serb, who has more Australian Open men’s singles titles than any other player in history, defeated Enzo Couacaud 6-1 6-7(5) 6-2 6-0 and will play Grigor Dimitrov in the third round.
Djokovic is in the hunt for his 10th Australian Open title and a 22nd Grand Slam success to tie Rafael Nadal in the all-time list.
