LAGOS: NSCDC gets new Commandant

THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed CC Usman Ishaq Alfadarai as the new commandant of the Lagos State Command.

Alfadarai who took over the command on Monday, January 23, re-assured Lagosians of maximum protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, through robust engagement with critical stakeholders and synergy with the security agencies.

Addressing officers and men of the Command, the new commandant tasked them redouble their efforts, especially as the February/March general elections draws closer. He promised robust engagement with critical stakeholders particularly the religious bodies, community leaders and youths

A statement by spokesperson of Command, Abolurin Oluwaseun, a Deputy Superintendent of Corps (DSC), prior to his deployment to Lagos, Alfadarai was the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the Commandant General CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi. He had served the Corps in various capacities across several states of the federation, among which was Divisional Officer of Giwa, Chikun, Jaba and also Jema’a LGA in Kaduna State. 

He was at a time Head of Operations Department in Kano, Katsina and Zamfara State Commands respectively, and Head of Administration Department in Jigawa and Zamfara States Command.

Alfadarai who enlisted into the NSCDC in 2006, through hardwork, dedication and commitment, rose to the rank of Commandant of Corps (CC).

Born in 1970 in Zaria, Kaduna State, Alfadarai  attended Salvation Army Primary School, Agege,  between 1976 and 1982. He proceeded to Anwar-ul Islam College, Agege, for his secondary school education between 1982 and 1987.

He also attended the School of Basic Studies, Bauchi State Polytechnic, Bauchi from 1987 to 1989 before proceeding to the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria from 1990 to 1993, where he bagged Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science. 

Owing to his unrelenting quest for knowledge Alfadarai also holds a Master Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Lagos.

In the course of his career, he has attended numerous training and courses, which include but not limited to: Disaster Management Simulation Training Exercise, Armed Force Simulation Centre, Jaji; Weapon Handling Training Course, Prison Staff Training College, Kaduna; Internal Security Exercise, Nigeria Army School of Infantry, Jaji, among others.

Meanwhile, the former State commandant, CC Okoro Eweka, who was redeployed to Osun State NSCDC Command implored other sister agencies to extend support to the new commandant just as they did to him whilst incharge of the command.
