THE draw ceremony for this year’s Africa U-17 Cup of Nations will be held on Wednesday in Algiers, the capital city of Algeria.
Five-time world champions Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets are one of the 12 teams who will be drawn into three groups for the tournament scheduled for April 8 to April 30 in the North African country.
The 12 participating teams that will be involved in the draw are Algeria, Nigeria, Morocco, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Somalia, South Sudan, Zambia, South Africa, Cameroon and Congo.
The Golden Eaglets, coached by former world champion Nduka Ugbade, qualified for the continental competition after winning their zonal West African tournament.
The four top-placed teams from the African tournament will qualify to represent the continent at the FIFA U-17 World Cup taking place in Peru from November 10 to December 2.
The Golden Eaglets have won the FIFA U-17 World Cup a record five times, including the inaugural edition in 1985, when Ugbade was captain.
The other titles were won in 1993, 2007, 2013 and 2015.
