A PATROL team from the Ijora Badia Police division has arrested two suspects conveying vandalised rail tracks in the state.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this yesterday via his Twitter handle.

“At about 1am today, a patrol team from Ijora Badia Division intercepted a Mitsubishi Lancer car conveying vandalised railway tracks. The two occupants of the vehicle have been arrested. Investigation is ongoing,” he tweeted.

Commending the police over the apprehension, some residents, urged them to go after the melting companies usually buy off the irons from the vandals.

“Good job. Please go after the melting companies. Place your men at those places, work with DSS to station permanent undercovers in those industries. Go to Owode Onirin, go to Ikorodu metal industries. No random checks, do strategic placements at the sorting points in those companies,” a Twitter user identifed as Fash360degrees @fash360degree said.

Engr. Olami Ashile @ Engr_Ashile said, “Please make proper findings where they’re taking it to. The person buying it from them is the root of this nonsense because if he/she didn’t buy it they won’t go and steal it.”

Another Twitter user idwntified as Sherrifj @ sherrifj said, “I feel vandalism should carry a very high penalty so these people will always think twice before doing the crime.”
