SUPER EAGLES forward Terem Moffi has made the switch from FC Lorient to fellow Ligue 1 club OGC Nice.

The deadline day transfer was completed today after the Nigeria international landed in Nice yesterday to complete his medical.

Moffi joins Nice initially on loan, with the obligation to buy him permanently for €30 million in the summer.

“OGC Nice are delighted to announce the arrival of Terem Moffi on a loan deal with an obligation to buy from FC Lorient,” the club announced on their official website today.

“The 23-year-old Nigerian international, who has seven caps and two goals for his country, has become an established name in the French top flight with Les Merlus, having joined them in 2020 and made 90 appearances, scoring 35 goals, including 12 this season – the second-highest total in Ligue 1.

“Before moving to Brittany, Moffi plied his trade for KV Kortrijk in Belgium, following a spell in Lithuania with both FK Kauno Žalgiris and FK Riteriai.”

Nice described Moffi as ‘quick, powerful and a formidable finisher’ as the club’s president Jean-Pierre Rivère waxes lyrical about the new signing.

“We’re delighted that Terem’s determination to sign for OGC Nice, combined with our own, has led to this outcome. The support of our owner was also invaluable,” Rivère said.

“It’s an investment that matches our ambitions.”

Sporting director Florent Ghisolfi listed the qualities that attracted the club to the young Nigerian.

“When it comes to the ideas that we want to implement and the identity that we want to establish, he’s the ideal striker,” Ghisolfi noted.

“Terem is capable of playing with his back to goal and of running in behind. He’s a modern striker, very pacy and very powerful. He has experience, and he fights for the team.

“He’s capable of making run after run whilst always keeping a cool head inside the box. In Ligue 1, he’s already set the standard. A new milestone awaits him at Nice, where he’ll get to play in Europe for the first time in the spring and will be one of the key men carrying the club’s lofty aims.”

Moffi is set to make his Nice debut under coach Didier Digard against Marseille on Sunday.

Nice, who are 10th in Ligue 1, added high-profile names to their squad in the summer, including Kasper Schmeichel, Ross Barkley and Aaron Ramsey.
