KELECHI Iheanacho played a starring role today as Leicester City came from behind to thrash Tottenham Hotspur 4-1, while Paul Onuachu saw his Southampton side lose at home to Wolves, and Premier League leaders Arsenal were held at home by Brentford.

Super Eagles forward Iheanacho scored one goal and assisted another to steer Leicester City to victory at the King Power Stadium.

Spurs took the lead through Rodrigo Bentacour but Nampalys Mendy equalised for the hosts and Iheanacho set up James Maddison to turn the game around.

Iheanacho then extended Leicester City’s lead with a crisp finish just before half-time, and Harvey Barnes put the icing on the cake with nine minutes left on the clock.

The Nigeria international has now registered three goals and four assists in 16 Premier League appearances this season, coming off the bench in 13 of his games.

Also in the Premier League today, Southampton’s new Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu failed to score in his second game for the club as they lost 2-1 at home to 10-man Wolves.

Onuachu was signed from Genk for £18m in January but is yet to carry on his prolific form from the Belgian club, firing blanks in his first two starts for the Saints.

The towering striker lasted 74 minutes, while his compatriot Joe Aribo played the final 11 minutes.

Carlos Alcaraz gave the hosts hope in the 24th minute with the opening goal and Mario Lamina was sent off for the visiting Wolves three minutes later.

However, Jan Bednarek scored an own goal to pull 10-man Wolves level in the 72nd minute and Joao Gomes silenced St Mary’s Stadium with the winner three minutes from time.

Southampton are rooted to the bottom of the table, while Wolves rose to 15th, five points away from the drop zone.

At the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal dropped points for the second consecutive Premier League game as they failed to extend their lead at the top by three points.

They were held to a 1-1 draw by a plucky Brentford side, who equalised through Ivan Toney in the 74th minute, eight minutes after Leandro Trossard had given the Gunners the lead.

Arsenal are six points ahead of second-placed City, with Brentford in eighth spot.
