AIG Jimeta dies after brief illness

THE Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 5, which includes the states of Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa, has passed away.

He passed away this morning after a brief illness, at the Benin Teaching Hospital in Edo State.

This was revealed in a brief WhatsApp message today by SP Ahmed Wakil, the police public relations officer for the Bauchi State Command.

AIG Jimeta Tanko held a master’s degree in peace and conflict studies from the National Open University and a degree in English language from the University of Maiduguri.

On January 13, 2022, he began serving as AIG Zone 5.

In the Nigerian Police Force, he held a variety of positions, including those of Edo State Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Commissioner for Police, Personal Assistant to the AIG of Police, Department of Training and Development, FHQ Annex, Lagos State, and Chief of Training, Directorate on Peace-keeping, FHQ, Abuja. He was also the Suleja Area Command’s Area Commander.
