‘Please do not feel lonely, it happens like that once in a while. I recall a year I sent out 14 cards to women I found their names in the printed copy of the Directory. None of them had the sense to send me a response. I have learned…’
I CAN hear in my head, will you be my Val? That was what The Guardian newspapers said to me in Rutam House many years ago. We had a date in the canteen and on Thursday night the Mallam selling tea and bread made that night the most romantic! As I look back today I am asking myself about individuals not the institution… “Today is just a few hours shy of the great Valentine Day. You all have been in my thoughts. I am as sure as day light that someone on this platform will not receive a Valentine Card or present. I will be busy all day on Monday and I will not make any comment on Feb 14th that great day of lovers.
Please do not feel lonely, it happens like that once in a while. I recall a year I sent out 14 cards to women I found their names in the printed copy of the Directory. None of them had the sense to send me a response. I have learned o. I have left over cards from my days at Igbobi College when I was the Chief Speaker at debates. I got cards from women who thought I was smart. Thank God for Tipex, I have covered the dates and they are now timeless. Whatever you do on Monday do not cry o. I was once in your shoes. Happy Valentine day ooo
I hope Ghana as a country can send a giant valentine card to Nigeria to show that they still love us. I dream that Nigeria will send a card to South Africa to let them know we have always been lovers. Our love for South Africa no get part two. We have always been there for them. We love their companies and love their women too. Is it possible to reciprocate our love? Feb 14th is a good time to show inter national love.
