ARSENAL extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a 4-0 win over Everton at the Emirates Stadium tonight.

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi was in full-time action for Everton but he could not stop his former club from a big win in their quest for a first Premier League title since 2004.

Bukayo Saka started the rout in the 40th minute with a crisp finish and Gabriel Martinelli doubled their advantage just before half-time.

Martin Odegaard and Martinelli struck after the break to complete the Gunners’ victory, which moved them five points clear of second-placed Manchester City.

Everton, who beat Arsenal 1-0 in Sean Dyche’s first game in charge four weeks ago, are 18th in the table, one point from safety.

In another Premier League clash tonight, Liverpool defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 to rise to sixth spot in the table.

After Darwin Nunez’s goal was ruled out by VAR, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah struck in the 71st and 77th minutes to earn Liverpool the points against the 15th-placed Wolves.

Also tonight, there were four fifth round FA Cup ties in England, with Manchester United and Burnley progressing while Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur suffered upsets.

Manchester United, who only on Sunday ended their six-year trophy drought with their Carabao Cup triumph, came from behind at Old Trafford to beat West Ham 3-1, all the goals coming in a frantic second half.

Algeria forward Said Benrahma gave the visitors the lead nine minutes after the break but an own goal from Morocco defender Nayef Aguerd restored parity for the hosts.

Late goals for Manchester United from youngster Alejandro Garnacho and Fred sealed the win for Erik ten Hag’s side.

At the St Mary’s Stadium, Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo was a 67th minute substitute for Southampton and Paul Onuachu was not in the matchday squad as the Premier League side fell 2-1 to visiting fourth-tier club Grimsby Town.

In another upset, Tottenham Hotspur were beaten 1-0 at home by Championship club Sheffield United, Iliman Ndiaye netting the only goal 11 minutes from time.
