THE name of the embattled House of Representatives leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has been removed from the list of election winners by the Independent National Election Commission (INEC).
He was declared the winner of the Doguwa/Tudunwada constituency election on February 25 by the electoral board.
Professor Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai, the returning officer, had already announced that Doguwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 39,732 votes to defeat his nearest challenger, Yushau Salisu Abdullahi of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), who polled 34,798 votes.
But, Doguwa’s name was glaringly absent from the recently revealed list of members-elect.
INEC stated during the remark session that the declaration was made under pressure.

The don from Bayero University, Kano, could be seen reading out the results with a weak voice in a viral video of the returning officer pronouncing the results.
As a result of electoral violence recorded in the constituency Doguwa was arrested by police for his claimed role in the killings of numerous people and the burning of the NNPP secretariat, an allegation the congressman has categorically rejected.
The police stated that at least three people were killed, while the NNPP campaign secretariat in Tudunwada was set ablaze, killing two people.
Doguwa was then brought before a magistrate’s court on murder, arson, and unauthorized possession of guns charges, and was consequently remanded in prison.
However, a Federal High Court in Kano granted the embattled legislator N500 million bail yesterday, but forbade him from campaigning in his area during the next gubernatorial and state assembly elections.
