NAPOLI could replace one Nigerian with another if Victor Osimhen leaves the club at the end of this season, according to a report in Italy.
Osimhen has been consistently linked with a move away from the Serie A leaders all season, and his Super Eagles teammate Ademola Lookman has been mentioned as a potential replacement if he leaves Napoli.
Ekrem Konour, who reports for several outlets in Europe, including Italian football newspaper Calcio In Pillole, claimed today that the move is a possibility.
“Napoli are considering Atalanta’s 25-year-old striker Ademola Lookman as a potential signing if Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen transfers to the Premier League in the summer transfer window,” Konour reported.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have been mentioned as likely destinations for Osimhen, and the 24-year-old Nigeria striker has not hidden his admiration for the Premier League.
Osimhen said in a recent interview that he would love to play in the Premier League ‘one day’, following in the footsteps of his idol, former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.
Like Osimhen, Lookman is also having a good season in Italy after joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig in the summer.
While Osimhen has registered a phenomenal 21 goals and three assists in 26 appearances in all competitions, Lookman has produced an impressive 14 goals and four assists in 26 appearances.
Incidentally, Napoli in first place are at home to Atalanta in sixth in Serie A this evening.
