NAPOLI have insisted that they will wait until the right time before holding contract extension talks with Victor Osimhen and other key players.
Super Eagles striker Osimhen, Georgia forward Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Korea defender Min-jae Kim have all been in superb form this season and attracted interest from big clubs across Europe.
To fend off these clubs, which include Manchester United, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, Napoli might need to offer much bigger contracts to Osimhen and his co-stars.
However, Napoli’s Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli has claimed that the talks can wait.
“Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia and Kim’s contracts to be extended? They have long-term deals, we’re not in a rush,” Giuntoli told Italian media.
“We will be on it in the summer. My contract? I’m gonna stay, I’m happy here so… why not?”
Osimhen, who has scored 23 goals in 28 appearances this season, joined Napoli for a record €80m fee in September 2020 and his current contract expires in June 2025.
Kvaratskhelia, 22, signed for Napoli from Georgian club Dinamo Batumi for €11.5m in July 22, with his deal expiring in June 2027.
Kim, 26, linked up with Napoli from Fenerbahce for €18m in June 2022 and his deal is until June 2025.
All three players have stood out as Napoli are having their best campaign in decades, leading Serie A by 18 points and cruising to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
