SUPER Eagles stars Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze warmed up for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie against Guinea-Bissau with away goals for their clubs today.
Osimhen struck once in Napoli’s 4-0 Serie A victory over Ola Aina’s Torino, while Chukwueze netted once in Villarreal’s 3-0 La Liga win at Osasuna.
The prolific Osimhen scored Napoli’s first and third goals while Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Taguy Ndombele added the other goals as their club opened up a 21-point lead at the top of the Italian top flight table.
The 24-year-old Nigeria international has now scored 21 Serie A goals in 23 appearances and 25 goals in 28 games in all competitions.
Super Eagles defender Ola Aina was a 75th minute substitute for Torino in the encounter.
In Spain, Chukwueze, who incidentally was in the same Nigeria squad with Osimhen that won the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, opened the scoring for Villarreal today.
He netted in the 14th minute and had another goal disallowed by VAR three minutes later, before Jose Luis Morales added two more.
Chukwueze has now registered four goals and five assists in 25 La Liga appearances this season as Villarreal chase European football spots.
The Yellow Submarines are sixth, five points behind fifth-placed Real Betis.
