‘Dettol man’ Osimhen boosts Super Eagles squad for Guinea-Bissau clash

VICTOR Osimhen was the latest arrival in the Super Eagles camp in Abuja last night as they continued their preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie against Guinea-Bissau.

Nigeria will host Guinea-Bissau in the first leg of the double-header at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Friday, with the reverse clash set for Bissau on Monday.

Napoli striker Osimhen landed in Abuja last night after stopping over in Lagos, where he was presented as a brand ambassador for Dettol soap.

There was a short ceremony in Lagos yesterday to formally present the Serie A leading scorer as the new face of the soap before he flew off to Abuja to join his colleagues.

The 24-year-old striker became the 22nd player to arrive in camp, with only Porto full-back Zaidu Sanusi yet to land as at this morning.

The early arrivals were Kevin Akpoguma, Joe Aribo, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi and Semi Ajayi, who were in camp on Sunday night.

Others like Francis Uzoho, new invitee from the Flying Eagles Kingsley Aniagboso and Daniel Bameyi, as well as Wilfred Ndidi, Kenneth Omeruo, Frank Onyeka, Moses Simon and Paul Onuachu arrived on Monday.

Rivers United goalkeeper Victor Sochima, the only Nigeria Premier Football League player in the squad, captain Ahmed Musa, Terem Moffi, Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemachi are also in camp.

The Super Eagles have been having evening training sessions under the supervision of head coach Jose Peseiro at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium since Monday.

They lead qualifying Group A with six points from two games, while Guinea-Bissau are second with four points.

Sierra Leone are third with one point and Sao Tome and Principe are bottom with no points.
