THE Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has criticized the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) for suspending former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose over allegations of anti-party activities.

Wike told journalists in Port Harcourt today that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) does not have the authority to suspend Fayose or refer Ortom to a disciplinary committee.

The governor also criticized the NWC’s decision to summon Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom to appear before a disciplinary committee for a similar allegation of anti-party activities.

He maintained that the governor of Benue “will not appear before any so-called disciplinary committee.”

Wike added that the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, should be suspended for refusing to follow the party’s constitution on zoning of political positions.

He went on to say that Ayu had also failed to deliver his polling unit and political ward during the recently concluded general elections, and that Ayu had only recently begun “the mother of all political wars.”

According to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP sanctioned Fayose, ex-Senate President Pius Anyim, Prof Dennis Ityavyar, and Aslam Aliyu for “anti-party activities.”

He added that the suspension will take effect today, March 23, 2023.
