ARSENAL forward Bukayo Saka and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah are the leading contenders for the Premier League Player of the Month award for March, while Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola are among those vying for the manager prize.
There are six men nominated for the player award, with Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister, Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings and Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard also nominated.
England international with Nigerian heritage Saka registered three goals and two assists as Premier League leaders won all four fixtures in March, while Salah recorded the exact same goal involvements in Liverpool’s two victories and one defeat.
Sweden striker Isak returned from an injury lay-off to inspire Champions League spot-chasing Newcastle to two victories with his three goals in three games, just as Trossard registered five assists in four games for Arsenal.
In the manager category, Arteta earned his nomination by leading the Gunners to four wins in four games, in which they scored 14 goals.
The Spaniard is aiming to win the award for a fourth time this season, and his sixth overall.
Guardiola’s Manchester City played only two Premier League matches in March, winning both and keeping clean sheets as they stayed second behind Arsenal.
Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi and Aston Villa’s Unai Emery are also up for the Manager of the Month award.
De Zerbi led Brighton to an unbeaten March in which they won two and drew one, while Emery’s Villa also won two and drew one in three matches.
Votes from fans will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the winners of both awards, who will be announced next week.
