TECH entrepreneur and co-founder of Paystack, a fintech payment platform, Shola Akinlade has bought majority shares in Danish club Aarhus Fremad.

The club are currently in the Danish third-tier, where they top the table and could be in the second-tier next season.

Akinlade, 38, bought 55 percent of the club, which makes him a majority shareholder and owner, according to Danish newspaper Berlingske.

The club confirmed the takeover in a Facebook post yesterday, writing: “We have looked at the date correctly, and yes – it is good enough Aarhus Fremad has closed an agreement today, which means a new owner in the club.

“We are very much looking forward to the collaboration and eagerly await what the future brings us.”

United States-based Akinlade is also the owner of Nigerian second-tier club Sporting Lagos, which he founded last year.

The new ownership will not bring radical changes to the running of Aarhus Fremad, club director Lars Kruse told local outlet Aarhus Stiftstidende.

“It’s actually so boring that there won’t be any changes. The plan is for us to continue with the setup we have,” he said.

“There are of course some investments that are just right – some fitness equipment, some GPS trackers on the players and so on.”
