THE Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, Prof. Mohammed Haruna, has been ordered by the president Muhammadu Buhari, to immediately transfer his position to the next most senior officer in the organization.

This was stated in a statement released today and signed by Willie Bassey, Director of Information for the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The joint action congress of the staff unions in NASENI, today had supported a two-year tenure extension for Haruna granted by President Buhari.

They stated that the extension would aid in the consolidation of numerous ongoing innovations and interventions in various facets of the nation.

However, according to the statement, the order by the President “followed the reversal of the extension in office granted by the President from April 2, 2023 to April 2, 2025 due to the fact that the EVC had completed two tenures of five years each in the organisation.

“The President appreciates the contributions of Professor Haruna in the development of the engineering infrastructure sub-sector of the economy, and wishes him success in his future endeavours.”
