LUIS Enrique has reportedly arrived in London to hold further talks with Chelsea as they look to replace Graham Potter, who was sacked as manager on Sunday.
The Spaniard is believed to have impressed the Chelsea hierarchy during an initial conversation and they invited him over to London for more.
Reports in Spain today claimed that the former Barcelona manager is keen on the job and landed in London this morning along with his friend and representative Ivan de la Pena.
Enrique won the La Liga, Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League treble with Barcelona in 2015 but quit in 2017 and has not worked in club football since.
The 52-year-old former Spain midfielder took his country to the semi-finals of Euro 2020 but the side struggled in the Qatar 2022 World Cup last December and he was fired.
According to reports in England, Enrique is one of several high-profile coaches Chelsea will interview before naming Potter’s successor.
Among the candidates are Julian Nagelsmann, who was recently fired by Bayern Munich and replaced by former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Europa League-winning manager Oliver Glasner.
Chelsea are not considering giving Bruno Saltor the role permanently after he was named as caretaker manager following the sacking of his former boss Potter.
In Saltor’s first game in charge last night, Chelsea missed some good chances as they were held to a 0-0 Premier League draw by Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
