VICTOR Osimhen has revealed his new protective mask which he got recently.
The Napoli striker apparently lost the old mask while on international duty with Nigeria and needed a new one.
He featured in the Super Eagles’ two Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Guinea-Bissau in Abuja on March 24 and in Bissau on March 27 before returning to Italy.
There were reports of a new mask for the prolific 24-year-old days ago but he only showed it off on social media yesterday.
The new mask is different from the old one as it is more like a second skin and has Osimhen’s initials ‘VO’ on it.
It was custom-made by Ortopedia Ruggiero, an orthopaedic studio who delivered it to the Nigeria international recently.
“We delivered a new mask with superpowers to Victor Osimhen. We will soon verify its effectiveness on the field,” the studio joked.
Osimhen has been forced to play in a protective mask since breaking his cheekbones and undergoing facial surgery at the end of 2021.
It is considered his lucky charm and he has indeed thrived while wearing the mask, scoring 25 goals in 29 appearances to inspire Napoli to the brink of their first Serie A title since 1990 and their first-ever UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Osimhen has missed Napoli’s two Serie A matches since the international break but the club are hopeful he will be fit for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against AC Milan on Wednesday.
