SADIO Mane has been suspended by Bayern Munich over his role in a brawl that broke out after their UEFA Champions League defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday night.
The Senegal forward reportedly punched teammate Leroy Sane in the face after the 3-0 defeat in Manchester as they argued about something.
The two forwards were seen confronting each other as they walked off the pitch at the Etihad Stadium after the potentially damaging Champions League quarter-final first leg defeat, and the scuffle got worse when they went down the tunnel.
Now, after internal investigations, Bayern Munich have decided to suspend Mane from Saturday’s Bundesliga fixture against Hoffeinheim and indefinitely.
“Sadio Mané , 31, will not be in the FC Bayern squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday,” Bayern said in a statement on their official website today.
“The reason is misconduct by Mané after FC Bayern’s Champions League game at Manchester City. In addition, Mané will receive a fine.”
Mane is believed to have instigated the fight, which continued into the dressing room.
He punched Sane and left the Germany international with a facial injury, before the pair were dragged away from each other.
The usually well-behaved Mane is believed to have bern affected by the recent death of his aunt, which has left him in grief.
The aunt passed away last weekend and the Bayern hierarchy took this into consideration before deciding on Mane’s punishment.
Despite their fight on Tuesday night, Mane and Sane, who is also of Senegalese origin, appeared together during Bayern’s training session in Munich today.
