NIGERIA Premier Football League Group A leaders Bendel Insurance extended their impressive unbeaten run to 14 games today with a 1-1 draw with Remo Stars in Ikenne.

The Edo Gunners are the only unbeaten side in both Group A and Group B of the abridged campaign but they have not won in weeks.

The draw with Remo Stars is Insurance’s fifth in a row as they seek a spot in the title play-offs.

Kwame Mawuena gave the hosts the lead in the 16th minute but Divine Nwachukwu equalised for Insurance four minutes later to preserve their remarkable ‘invincible’ status.

The Benin City-based side are still on top of the Group A standings with 28 points from 14 games, with four rounds of fixtures left before the Super Six play-offs involving the top three teams from each group.

Enyimba rose to second spot, four points behind Insurance, after a 2-1 win away to Kwara United, who are eighth in the 10-team group.

Chijioke Mbaoma scored both goals for Enyimba, either side of Samad Kadiri’s penalty for the hosts.

Also in Group A, Plateau United defeated Akwa United 1-0 in Jos to stay in fourth spot, two points behind their third-placed visitors, while bottom side El-Kanemi Warriors played a 0-0 draw at home to Shooting Stars.

In Group B, Abia Warriors defeated Sunshine Stars 2-1 to rise to third place, as leaders Lobi Stars were thrashed 3-0 at Bayelsa United, who are seventh.

Rangers blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to Niger Tornadoes, with surprise side Doma United beating Wikki Tourists 2-0 to go second.

Rivers United’s game against Dakkada in Port Harcourt had to be suspended due to heavy rains, with the hosts leading 1-0. It will be concluded tomorrow.
